browngirlmag: On May 7, 2019, Georgia resident and singer-songwriter, Anita Aysola recalls her heart sinking as Georgia's state government passed the most restrictive anti-abortion legislation to date.π
β
As a political activist, mother and artist, Anita wanted to do her due diligence β call her senators, write letters, protest but it didn't feel like enough. Music was her catharsis. π§
β
This distress resulted in "Heartbeat," a jazz-infused anthem, in collaboration with members from the women's vocal social-action power @resistancerevivalchorus.π€
β
Turning her social responsibility into art is beyond therapeutic but hopefully, an immersive way to be a responsible artist. π

On this #WomensEqualityDay, we support the artists and creators like @anitaaysola who are steadfast in their mission to fight for women's rights. Be sure to check out her upcoming singles, "Rumpelstiltskin," a commentary on the border immigration crisis co-written with her husband, and "Legend in my Mind," which encourages a positive, grateful lense on the world. βHeartbeatβ is available for streaming today.
